SECURITY EVERYWHERE, EVEN ON THE GO
The mobile device has become the central communications interface in our day-to-day living.
The IT landscape has changed drastically in recent years. Today most companies tend to provide their employees with a notebook instead of a classic desktop PC, and increasingly also smartphones and tablets. At the same time, apart from devices provided for professional purposes, the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) trend is increasingly popular in companies: employees then work with their own private notebooks, smartphones and tablets. It isn’t unusual for employees to have to rely on several different devices to be able to effectively perform their daily tasks.
When it comes to mobile devices, however, security is not able to keep up with the technical advances being made on the newest class of device. Really effective security tools for smartphones and tablets are hard to find. Pre-installed firewalls or antivirus solutions, like one often finds on notebooks and desktop PCs, are a rarity. The frequent lack of willingness to update the OS on a regular basis and close gaps in security enables a growing target area for attacks by cyber criminals, as evidenced by the growing numbers in malware, phishing and botnets.
Business Mobile Security is based on the Elastic Cloud Security System (ECS2).
It is integrated into the infrastructure of the mobile communications provider and it protects the entire data stream of all mobile devices – regardless of operating system and without the need to install any software or apps.
„Antivirus is dead!“
Shift to a high-performance cloud environment
To properly counter today´s increasingly complex attacks, it is necessary to apply the security functions used in the enterprise environment. However, due to performance limitations, it is not possible to use these on local devices. That is why Secucloud shifts these modern security filters to a scalable virtual cloud environment offered through the provider.
Initial scan and detection of devices that are already infected
After being activated the first time, Business Mobile Security scans the new devices’ network traffic and detects any devices that are already infected (malware, part of a botnet). This occurs fairly often, particularly in the case of Android devices. Secucloud’s Business Mobile Security immediately stops any damaging bot communication, promptly notifies end users, and then offers further options to correct the situation (Secucloud Endpoint Protection, for example).
